Music of My Childhood

By Matthewthompson @MatthewTNY

A few days back I heard Bomfunk MC’s Freestyler out on a street, I haven’t heard it in years. It made me smile. Not because the song is so great (and it is), but because it reminds me of my teen age. This isn’t the only song that reminds me of my childhood or teen age, and I made a list of the songs that blew my mind when I was younger, maybe people my age will understand ;) I bet you are gonna want to listen to some of them right after you finish reading this.
1. Bomfunk MC’s – Freestyler came out in 2000. I just googled it, I don’t know why I though it came out earlier. There was time when I heard this one on every corner. Everyone on the planet seemed to like it.
2. Five & Queen – We Will Rock You. This is my favorite song of the 2000. I had that album, and I knew all the songs by heart. Back then I though J Brown was the hottest one, and here he is now. This isn’t the only song that I liked, obviously. There also were Don’t Wanna Let You Go, Keep On Movin’ and many, many more.
3. Linkin Park – In the End. This one also was released in 200, in their album Hybrid Theory. For me Five phase was followed by Linkin Park phase, when I absolutely loved Papercut, High Voltage, Breaking the Habit, From the Inside, Forgotten, Numb and most of their other songs. Of course, some of them came out after 2000, when I was not a child but a teenager. Today I rarely listen to them, and the latest songs that come to mind are What I’ve Done (I think it’s 2007) and Lost In The Echo (2012). Lost in the Echo is awesome, by the way. I first heard it from a YouTube video and didn’t even know it was them, and when I figured that out I wasn’t even surprised cause they’re awesome ;)
4. ‘N Sync – Bye Bye Bye. I was never a fan of ‘N Sync, but this song certainly does remind me of my childhood. This song was on the list of the best songs of 2000.
5. Destiny’s Child – Survivor. This one was released in 2001. Wow… don’t I feel growing old…
6. Eminem – Cleaning Out My Closet. I remember how much I liked Lose Yourself and other songs. I still listen to Eminem every once in a while, his & Rihanna song “I Love The Way you Lie” was pretty great; so was his & Dr. Dre “I need a Doctor”.
7. Shakira – Whenever wherever. It came out in 2001, and I definitely can’t remember about that time without a smile!
And what songs do remind you of the 2000-s or your teen age?
