Muse rocked the stage of London’s O2 Arena last night to a 20,000 strong crowd. Supported by ‘Fin, who steppted in at short notice for ‘The Joy Formidable’, Muse put on a thrilling concert filled with much loved songs from their classic albums, to their 6th album ‘The 2nd Law’. The bank kicked off their tour in Glasgow’s SECC on October 24th, followed by two nights at London’s O2 Arena.
Known for their electric live performances, Bellamy, Howard and Wolstenholme took to the stage and launched into ‘Unsustainable‘, accompanied by a climate change VT. This was shortly followed by ‘Supremacy‘, a song which many support as the alternative ‘Skyfall’ theme. Playing much loved classics like ‘Sunburn’, ‘Plug In Baby’, ‘Hysteria’, ‘Time Is Running Out’, ‘Starlight’, ‘Super Massive Black Hole‘ and ‘Knights of Cydonia‘, the jam-packed set-list ensured the crowd received great value for their money. The trio had such energy on stage, as Matt lead the crowd in a series of clapping and fist pumps while the crowd chanted back some of their well known lyrics. Bellamy’s vocals were ridiculously flawless throughout, with his operatic rock quality commanding the O2 Arena.
Muse are known for investing a lot of money into their live shows, to provide a visual treat for their fans. An overhead inverted pyramid of screens provided striking visualisations, consisting of economical and environmental VT’s (not to mention a dancing purple monster bust a move during ‘Panic Station’). The staging and lighting were equally impressive, with screens surrounding the stage below, a raised platform for Howard in the centre and two raised pedestals either side for Bellamy and Wolstenholme.

Muse treated the fans with two impressive encores and closed the show with a track that was specifically prominent for London; ‘Survival‘, the official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Last week, Muse received the Q Award for ‘Best Act In The World Today‘ and going by last nights spectacular performance, the band certainly lived up to that significant and fitting title. Muse continue their tour with their last performance in the O2 tonight, followed by multiple dates around Europe.
