The thing that differentiates the usual menu and usual festivals from this one is the spread. The menu had a lot of additions! A live counter for kebabs, a live counter for kulfis, one for biryani and gravies, and the starters menu as well.
Started with the Chicken Tikka and Chutney Wala Jhinga (Tandoori Prawns). The prawns were really delicious but the chicken was a little bland. The server offered to get the chicken done spicy but I was too full by the time I gave him my feedback. Taltali Fish was really really nice. No etra oil, very soft, not at all bland. The Cajun Spice Potatoes at BBQ are my favourite! No place does it better than them. They had really interesting veg appetizers this time. Corn tikka, veg kebab- both were extremely soft and delicious! The Grilled Pineapple is another favorite of mine here. One bite and it reminded me why I liked Barbeque Nation so much. The Chicken Shikhampuri Kebab were grilled flat on the tawa. Tasted nice and went well with the Mohammad Ali concept.
For main course I really limited my choices to only the new offerings in their menu. But even then I couldn’t taste all of them. There was a cart with a chef making fresh Chicken Baida Parantha, Khamiri Naan, Gurda Kaleji and what not!! I went with the Chicken Baida Parantha and it was simply mind-blowing! Very very soft and generously stuffed with minced chicken. Tasted the Chicken Biryani, Chicken Bhuna and Nihari Gosht, and oh my god- was I in love with the food!
Desserts saw a DIY kulfi counter where the chef mixed whatever kulfis you wanted with the tppings, sauces and add-ons of your choice. I had the Malai Kulfi with Falooda, boba, caramel sauce and rose syrup. Excellent stuff! The sevaiyyan were great as well! Their usual stuff like the Gulab Jamun and Chocolate Brownie were as usual the yummy end you need to your meal, so no surprises there.
I was too impressed with their Mocktails as well. Ordered for a Sayb and Kheera Mojito and it was just right- not too sweet, very refreshing, and you could taste all the flavours mentioned in the name.
Barbeque Nation has really outdone themselves with this festival and they should do more of such authentic yummy stuff. I was truly truly blown away by the fare. It’s a must visit for all!
The festival is on till 18th October and across all outlets of Barbeque Nation in Mumbai, so go and indulge in the magic of Mohammad Ali Road now!!Disclaimer: The review was done on an invitation from the restaurant.
