After the release of the stunning triptych poster yesterday, the new trailer for Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful. Directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man Trilogy) and produced by Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and The Huntsman), Oz: The Great and Powerful follows the exploits of Oscar Diggs/Oz (James Franco). The film is to be taken as a prequel to the classic Wizard of Oz film starring Judy Garland. Everything seems fantastic for Oscar once he is appointed the Wizard of Oz, but he soon finds out the job is a lot more difficult than anticipated.
Disney are obviously not taking any chances with Oz: The Great and Powerful. The promotional campaign clearly mirrors that of the widely-successful Alice in Wonderland. Given their recent disappointments in the live-action film realm, its vital that Oz: The Great and Powerful becomes a hit.
The supporting cast includes Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and Zach Braff so it will be a star-studded affair. Also, Danny Elfman will be supplying the score for the film.
Oz: The Great and Powerful will be released in Disney Digital 3D in the US on March 8th 2013.
