Minnesota Mink Farm Burns Down

Posted on the 12 October 2013 by Earth First! Newswire @efjournal

Minnesota Mink Farm Burns DownThe main building of one of the largest mink farms, holding 50,000 mink in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota has burnt down. The fire is being deemed accidental at this time. No minks were harmed and damages are currently estimated at a half million dollars.

The burnt building was said to house “all of the food, equipment, and other things necessary to keep the farm going”.

The farmer declined to go camera because of potential trouble with animal rights activists. The mink farming business is a specialty, and there are only about 20 mink farmers in the state of Minnesota.

This fire comes after a busy summer by animal liberationists with nine reported fur farm raids this year.
