Something I have been meaning to blog about for ages now is the Bloggers Night In hosted by the lovely Eileen from ET Speaks from Home.

When I told some family about going I think they were slightly concerned about me traveling so far away to meet up with a group of people I had met over the internet.  I don’t think anyone really understands the friendship I have struck up with this wonderful bunch.  I suppose I never realised how well you could get to know people without actually meeting them in person.  Anyhow, enough of the slushy stuff….

It feels so long ago now that we all descended on her wonderful home for a good catch up and natter.  I have been speaking to this group of bloggers now for around a year and they are all wonderful ladies, some of whom I had had the pleasure of meeting in person at various blog events during 2013 and some who I was meeting for the first time (even though it didn’t feel like it!).

I picked up Zoe from My Mummy’s World on the way.  It’s a good job I took our big car as she was heavily loaded with boxes and boxes of goody bags which she had managed to arrange!

Off we went to Eileen’s and we were the first ones to arrive.  We chatted for a while before Pippa (Red Rose Mummy) and Jenny (The Brick Castle) arrived.  Whilst awaiting the arrival of the ‘southerners’ we had to have a try of the lovely snacks which had arrived from some great companies including Birds Eye, Darling Spuds Popcorn and Mr Trotters crisps and scratchings to mention a few.  The most surprising snack that I think we all enjoyed was the Tenderstem Broccoli.  I’m not usually a huge broccoli fan and couldn’t get my head around eating it raw with dips, however, I am now a convert.  It was delicious and such a good alternative for eating with dips.

Anna from In the Playroom was next to arrive before everyone else finally arrived after experiencing some travel problems.  Angela (The Life of Spicers), Fiona (Mummy’s Little Stars), Tina (The Soup Dragon Says) and Mary (Over 40 and a Mum to One) were all ready for a drink and some food when they arrived later than planned so we got underway testing out the drinks and ordering some great pizzas and chocolate dough balls from Domino’s.  I have to admit to being a Domino’s virgin before this weekend but can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed all of the pizzas we ordered and will definitely look into using them in the future.

To wash down our pizza we had some great drinks supplied from I Heart Wines and Funkin Cocktail to mention a couple.  I really enjoyed the white and rose wines from I Heart Wines and the frozen cocktail pouches from Funkin were delicious.  They were very citrus flavoured (which I love!) but were quite difficult to drink!  They reminded me of a slush puppy, but for adults!

After we had all had enough to eat we had a secret santa and I was very lucky to receive some wonderful homemade fudge from Jenny.  It was delicious!

We also received some great pampering goodies too and a few of us painted our nails although I regretted doing mine in bright green when I went out in the daylight the next day!  We had some lovely stuff to take home with us to try out including some great beauty goodies from Aldi, Palmer’s Rosehip Skin Therapy Oil and Halo Beauty Wipes.

I also gave out the mugs that I had arranged as a surprise from Vistaprint.  Everyone seemed really pleased with them!

After all the excitement we played a couple of games before having a good old chin wag whilst stuffing my face with the delicious Nanobytes sweets!  The time seemed to fly by and it was like we had known each other for years!  I think we all made it to bed about 2 (which I haven’t done for ages!).  I didn’t get much sleep as my blow up bed quickly deflated and there was a very strange noise coming from the playroom which I found out the next morning was Eileen’s hamster!  I wish she had told me before, I thought someone was trying to break in!

Anyway, after a late night and not much sleep a good breakfast was needed.  We had been supplied some yummy yoghurt from Total Greek Yoghurts and we also got to go out for a Frankie and Bennie’s breakfast.  Again this was a new experience for me.  Although I have been to Frankie and Bennie’s too many a lot of times, I have never had a breakfast there.  Naturally I had to have the pancake and bacon stack with syrup – my all time favorite breakfast!  The service was great, the food arrived quickly and it was delicious.  It was certainly just what I needed to perk me up for the drive home!

The weekend went far too quickly and all too soon it was time to gather up the amazing goody bags (more on those to follow!) and say our goodbyes.

It really was a great weekend and just what I needed.  I’m hoping it won’t be too long before we all get to meet up again.
