#ManicureMonday - 4th of July Nails - Deborah Lippmann, KB Shimmer & Julep

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig
I know the 4th of July is ancient history now, but the last manicure I did (and is still on my nails) was for the 4th of July. Being the US, it is practically required that you have something red, white & blue for our Independence Day so I complied with my mani. I started with Deborah Lippmann's Blue Orchid which is just the perfect cornflower blue. The formula is fantastic, especially compared to other similarly hued polishes, and I used 2 coats. I have never had trouble with streakiness or patchiness when using this polish. I feel the need to add that I absolutely adore the bottles Deborah Lippmann uses too. Sounds silly, but apparently they are designed so that they won't tip over and I really appreciate that. I tend to paint my nails on weird surfaces and have the bottle perched precariously while I hold my breath hoping I don't knock it over. Not an issue with Deborah Lippmann polishes. Moving on....

I then topped the tips of my nails with a little bit of KB Shimmer's Ice Queen, an absolutely stunning multi-shaped, multi-sized iridescent holographic glitter in a clear base. There are no words for the beauty of this polish. For a bit more color, I added America from Julep, which is a rather densely packed fine red glitter with slightly larger bits of blue and silver glitter as well as a few silver stars in a clear base. Very festive indeed! On top of that I added another quick top up of Ice Queen, added my Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat and voila! Festive holiday firework-esque nails!

Ignore the cat hair on my index finger . It's inevitable - I'm losing the battle!!!

What was on your nails for Independence Day? I'd love to know!
