The Man Booker Shortlist for 2013 has been announced! Here are the six books that made the cut:
'We Need New Names" by NoViolet Bulawayo
"The Luminairies" by Eleanor Catton
"The Harvest" by Jim Crace
"The Lowland" by Jhumpa Lahiri
"A Tale for the Time Being" by Ruth Ozeki
"The Testament of Mary" by Colm Tóibín
The original longlist was incredibly diverse, and the shortlist has kept this diversity alive with writers from New Zealand, England, Canada Ireland and Zimbabwe, ranging in size from 800+ pages from Eleanor Catton to around 100 pages for The Testament of Mary. Personally, it looks like a fantastic list to me, and I shall definitely be checking these out.We Need New Names by NoViolet Bulawayo (Chatto & Windus)The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton (Granta)The Harvest by Jim Crace (Picador)The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri (Bloomsbury)A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki (Canongate)The Testament of Mary by Colm Tóibín (Penguin)
