In life, it is imperative to be happy. However, sometimes circumstances make it so finding happiness can be challenging.

Making Happiness No Matter Where You Are

It’s been quite some time since I shared a happy post about my personal relationship so today, I’m going to let you in on a secret. I had a great weekend!

It was almost a last minute thing as we were unsure what the weather had in store for us. Chances of thunderstorms and sweltering heat was expected off and on all week. I for one can’t handle high humidity combined with high temps and rain would spoil the fun. Thankfully by Friday we felt it was safe enough to do make some happiness in the sun.

Bitchy & Cranky Pants at The Monster Mile

If you’re a fan of Nascar, you know all about The Monster Mile.  If not, I give you a very brief description:

  • Oval speedway
  • Cars racing at over 150 mph
  • Cute drivers and race suits
  • Fans of all kinds from all over the states
  • Mission:  To Win!

The Monster Mile

The Monster Mile is in Dover, Delaware. It’s about 30 minutes from my house so Cranky and I try to attend twice a year. However, it’s notorious that when Nascar is in town, there is bound to be extreme heat and rain. Thankfully, we didn’t have any rain but the heat was ungodly.

Our day started out at the track around 9:30 am. There were lots of teams and drivers vendors set up selling their merchandise. Great time to shop for your favorite drivers memorabilia! There is also a Fan Zone set up where some vendors run contests and give away goodies. For instance, there was a Smithfield tent who was giving away mini free ham sandwiches! Then you could spin the wheel and try to win prizes! Next there was a Acme tent set up and had the same thing! Cranky won me a t-shirt (that I’ll not wear out) and I won an autographed driver pic (no clue who the driver was).

Then we head over to the Delaware Buckle Up tent area. Their contest was very cool. There were two walls that had seatbelts on them. Hanging from the top and color coded were the pull down straps. At the bottom were the click buttons. The Mission: Be the first to connect all of them and have the right colors! Low and behold, Cranky won!

I thought it was cool that he won so he could partly redeem himself from his loss last year. Last year we are at the Air Force tent and competed against one another and two others. It was a trivia challenge (military related) and I kicked everyone’s butt! I never let Cranky live it down being he retired from the Air Force after 21 years. So with this win, he “partly” redeemed himself but still has more winnings to go before fully being redeemed.

:)

Making Happiness

Despite the extremely hot temperatures and reapplying sunblock about ever 30 minutes to an hour, we still managed to have a great time. You have to Make your own Happiness, right? Does this look like a couple having fun?

It’s Race Time!

Next was time to hit the bleachers and start watching some racing. If you’ve never experienced a live Nascar race, it is definitely much better than watching on tv, especially when there is a wreck! We grabbed all our gear from my Jeep: cooler of drinks, bag of goodies to eat, camera and other essential. Up the bleacher stands we went.

We interrupt this story to bring you Breaking News!  Bitchy Pants is totally out of shape and about had a hard attack walking up the steps.

I don’t know if it was being out of shape in combination with the heat but I swear I could feel my heart pounding out the back of my head! Needless to say, we sat about row 8 on the bleachers. Check out our view!

So despite the heat, Cranky and I had a great day. I was ready to live mid race due to the heat, however, I stuck it out. I really didn’t bitch that much about it! Oh, I think I forgot to mention our lunch! Yes indeed, Grotto Pizza trailer! Oh yummy!

A Great Day

Sometimes we just need to let go of the past and let loose in the NOW! Making happy memories is what life is about. There are no guarantees in life nor in love so make the best of life TODAY! If I was still harboring grief and disappointment, there would be no way you would see a smile on my face in those pictures. Let Go, Let God!

There are no guarantees in life nor in love. Live for Today!
