Magical Moko Will Be Massive ...

Posted on the 26 October 2013 by Tlb Music Blog @TLB_Blog
We're very aware that this is the first time we've written about Moko, and that her career is only just beginning, but from single, Freeze, we are expecting gargantuan things to happen for her. Some names can be plucked very easily from the air when describing her and that, to us, suggests that she can definitely become the next sensation.
Magical Moko Will Be Massive ...The verses might make you believe that we are hyping this up a little too much, something which usually ends up as detrimental to a career, but if you give it a little more time, and allow yourself to wait for the contrast of the chorus, we're sure you'll see our point and most definitely agree.
The verses are soft and utterly slow, though, they manage to keep your attention in what we can only describe as a subtle grasp that really keeps you edging on. You'll express confusion and deep thought throughout these parts because you'll try very hard to pin-point who she sounds like, though, to come to one name just will not happen. There are elements of Whitney Houston, Lulu James, Misha B, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, and Emeli Sande throughout, though, her tone just has a twang of difference, which could start a brand new career.
The chorus,  as you would surely suspect by now, is the piece of the puzzle that really makes it for us. The vocal is much stronger, the use of percussion is beautifully placed and, all in all, it makes for something very, very catchy, but also very passionate, meaningful and responsive. The name Emeli Sande is much more likely to come to mind when you hear the chorus, but all in all, this massive single is something that we suspect will boost a career that we'd love to see flourish.
It's a real shame that we hadn't heard much of Moko beforehand, though, this is still from the debut EP ... which begs to suggest that, if this is her first offering of music, how amazing will her next pieces be, and how far can this woman go in the industry?
Paul.
