Maggie Holmes Design Team : Wonderful Layout

By Jcchris
I always go thru the products to find inspiration. I will take some time to let the products to "speak" to me. When I saw this calendar patterned paper, I instantly knew that it will work well with some pretty fussy cutting paper & stickers. I begin to pick up the rest of the embellishments that matched with the paper especially papers that I can do fussy cutting.

With just a little organisation or following a system each time, trust me... you will save a lot of time on your layout/project especially when you have limited time in a day! Most importantly, just enjoy the creative process. There is no right or wrong!Let me share with you on the creative process...

First, I wanted to create a subtle & soft look for my entire layout. With that in mind, I used some gesso to go over the patterned paper. All I did was to use a wet tissue (or you can use a recycle gift card), dabbed it into the gesso and gently swiped them onto the paper. After that is all dried, I adhered the photo that was layered on a paper doily, on the month of July. It was intentionally done it that way because my daughter was born in that month. Then, I slowly built my layers around the photo, that was from the bottom to the top. Just by choosing the right embellishments to match with the patterned paper will sure create a cohesive look to your layout/project. And of course by adding the paper doilies played a huge role for a pretty with a hint of classy to it!

I was also being careful with not covering any of the months except the month July. I wanted it to show as a calendar.

Just by adding fussy cuttings all around the layout really helped with filling up the gaps.
