I recently posted about a particularly talented guy called Adam O'Neill. He reminded me mostly of Paolo Nutini with the same twang in his voice and the use of a guitar which is not too heavy at all. It has now come to my attention that he is in a band, Live Like Kings, and my God, you don't want to miss out on this one.
Within a minute of listening to Teenage Brass, I downloaded the freely available version. The clashed and edgy track is a vast progression on the brilliant, but comparatively light, solo work of Adam. The bigger and fuller sound from the whole band allows the track to compliment everything about Adam - it becomes easier to share likenesses with Alex Turner of The Arctic Monkeys, rather than Paolo Nutini.
Truth be told, the whole sound is similar to The Arctic Monkeys, rather than just the vocal. The very bassy riff is particularly exciting, churned together to some dark but popular sort of lyrics ... and then mixed with that voice truly brings together something special ... if they were discovered a few years ago, they'd BE the Arctic Monkeys right now.
It's a real shame that they've not yet been given the recognition that they deserve, but I'm sure, given time, they will achieve their greatest desires because this is a big band with a big sound and a lot to offer.
