As part of the Fiction Guild Elite Reader program, I have the opportunity to read books in advance of their being released to the public in exchange for my review.  Because my mother, Gloria LOVES anything Amish, and specifically, she loves author, Beth Wiseman, when I received this book and shipped it right to my mom to read and provide a review.  Here’s what Gloria had to say:

“Beth Wiseman’s book, Love Bears All Things by is the second book in the Amish Secrets series, I read the first book titled Her Brother’s Keeper and would recommend reading it first for the full background story.  This is not the usual Amish Book, but one where Beth Wiseman takes us into the Amish families to show us they face the same issues as “Englischers”.

Love Bears All Things by Beth Wiseman

This story opens with Charlotte Dolinsky living in Houston, Texas  and going through some pretty rough times.  Her boyfriend Ryan has recently broke up with her.  She has financial problems and has been evicted from her apartment.  If only she knew a way to get her life together.  Jacob, who is 17 years old and running away from his Amish home comes to visit Charlotte without letting her know.  He cannot stay long as she must out by the end of the month.  She convinces Jacob to call home to let his family know where he is and allows him to stay for the remaining two weeks.

Charlotte had made a friend with Jacob’s sister Hannah when she was living in Lancaster before and promised her to do whatever she could to get Jacob to return home.  Jacob also left his sweetheart Annie Byler without telling her he was leaving or why.  They were to be married in the fall.  Would Jacob return?  Would they marry? Annie has a secret that only her older brother Daniel knows that would make Jacob return home, but Annie does not want Daniel to tell him.

Jacob refused to return home when Charlotte decides it’s time to leave Houston, Texas and return to Paradise, Pennsylvania where she owns a home which belonged to her brother Ethan (who committed suicide) to make a fresh start.  Charlotte will stay with her friend Hannah King the family she betrayed, but is welcome to stay until finding a job and getting settled.

Annie Byler’s brother Daniel struggles to heal from his fiancée”s betrayal when he learns that his sister Annie has done something that she will be shunned by the Amish community.  Daniel needs Charlotte’s help with Annie.  Daniel and Charlotte develop a friendship even though he knew Charlotte had deceived them all before. Does the Englisher Charlotte find her place in the Amish world?  Will Jacob find his way in the English world or return home to Annie and his family?  Will Charlotte be able to forgive someone from her past?

This complex novel touches on topics such as unplanned pregnancy, drug abuse, and mental health issues, this story has lots of twist and turns and  is about slowing down, redemption, healing, receiving forgiveness and most of all finding new love.  The first book in this series was good, but this one is the best!!  And I wanted more!!!

Beth Wiseman leaves us with some big things happening near the end and now I’m looking forward to the third book to find the answers. This is an excellent book. That comes highly recommended by ME!!”
