In #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Gardner’s latest twisty thrill ride, Detective D. D. Warren and “Find Her”‘s Flora Dane return in a race against the clock to either save a young girl’s life . . . or bring her to justice.

The home of a family of five is now a crime scene: four of them savagely murdered, one—a sixteen-year-old girl—missing. Was she lucky to have escaped? Or is her absence evidence of something sinister? Detective D. D. Warren is on the case—but so is survivor-turned-avenger Flora Dane. Seeking different types of justice, they must make sense of the clues left behind by a young woman who, whether as victim or suspect, is silently pleading, Look for me.

I just learned that the new trade paperback version of Look For Me by Lisa Gardner is hitting the stands at the end of this month (12/31/18), I wanted to do a re-post of my review posted back in February of this year!

Thanks to my association as a blogger with NetGalley, I am provided with the opportunity to read and review books that I haven’t heard often by authors I’ve never read.  Today’s post is about one of those authors, Lisa Gardner, and her book, Look For Me. This book is book 9 in her D.D. Warren series, and I was actually a little worried at first since I hadn’t read books 1 through 8, but it was fine.

Boston Sergeant Detective D.D. Warren is called to duty to look through the past of the Baez family when a family is gunned down in their home. It appears that the killer simply walked through the front door, kills two adults downstairs and two children upstairs. The fifth member of the family, teenager, Roxanne “Roxy” Baez, had left the home with her two dogs moments before the killings. Did she have something to do with the killings? Is she a victim or is she a suspect?

D.D. Warren starts investigating the case and starts searching for the missing teen. Flora Danes, a vigilante, is also determined to find Roxy, and has the connections, skills and knowledge to succeed.  Flora and D.D. both seem to struggle a bit – they butt heads because they are both strong women with different ideas as to their plan of action for the situation.

I really liked how Roxy’s essays were shared throughout the book, gave even more emotion to the story. Look For Me delves into topics such as abuse, child care, family dynamics, fear and love.  I really enjoyed this book – it’s a great-paced thriller with lots of heart.  I will definitely take a look back at books 1 through 8 in this series!

Look For Me by Lisa Gardner New York Times bestselling crime novelist Lisa Gardner began her career in food service, but after catching her hair on fire numerous times, she took the hint and focused on writing instead.

A self-described research junkie, she has parlayed her interest in police procedure, cutting edge forensics and twisted plots into a streak of eleven bestselling suspense novels.

Lisa lives in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with her family, as well as two highly spoiled dogs and one extremely neurotic three-legged cat. Lisa graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in international relations.
