Once again, Phexis has done it. The young one himself has decided to take an old school Anthony Hamilton track, mix it about plenty, freshen it up, rename and brand it, and shoot it at us whilst it is still scolding hot. Though the differences, to some, will be somewhat subtle, the speed change, the pitch change, and the mixing of all of the different vocal components come, surely, to plenty as something brand new, interesting, and surprisingly fresh and current.
Like? which it has been rebranded, is a sweet little track that the underground lot will surely be bumping and grinding to in the next few months to come. Out soon, free, on PTS, this little number shoots the 70's star, Anthony Hamilton, right into the youth of today and, for some reason, despite it being frightfully obvious (once you think about it), that this was a track back in the 70's ... you can't help but notice how similar, and how relevant this sort of thing would be, and is today!!
The vocals are sweet, simple, and right on the money. They sweep the track softly, and the closest comparisons we can make, honestly, would be to something like Bump 'n' Grind by R Kelly. Obviously, this tends to suggest a sensualness to it all, and to be honest, that's very much how we would describe this one. There's nothing much about it which suggests anything else, and the subtle uses of 'silence' towards the end (where the sound of nature can be heard), really also puts the same sensual suggestion to the forefront of your mind.
All we know is, this is going to be some EP, and one man who can definitely make waves in the industry. Big love.
Paul.
