Life Drawing, Back at the Firestation

By Pmeurice
Sunday evening - I was happy to find back the short Life Drawing session at Windsor Firestation
The Life Drawing class is animated by a Windsor based artist - Patrick Palmer. Checking on his website , I noticed he studied at Heatherley. It seems it's a small world...
Here are some sketches from the class :

A great model, I have to say : quite expressive, and some poses allowing interesting studies - I enjoyed the time, and look forward to the next one.

This weekend, messing on with my pastels. I struggled on a portrait attempt and felt I had better start my work from scratch. The difficulty went from the fact I was working on very different scales : the photo I was working from was tiny, and my canvas board was much larger. My drawing got lost, the body was not set properly, and after two or three attempts of a likeness from different perspectives, I ended by losing the drawing of the face. Not convincing!
I started again, with Oil this time - resizing and changing the composition to make sure my work and the picture are almost the same size... I miss working from Life or from picture I would compose...
