Let Go and Move On

By Sofia Essen @GetYourUnique

Every human being on the face of the earth is unique. You are one of a kind. We all know that we, as humans, are made up of the usual bits and pieces, such as a head, a heart, a brain, and so on. But the similarities pretty much end there.

Your life experiences, the good, the bad, and the ugly, have made you the person you are today.

Confession: I’m no angel.

That’s right, I’m only human. I’ve made mistakes. Maybe less than some people and perhaps more than others. I’m not keeping score. If I made a list of all the things I should have, could have, would have done differently or better in the past… well, it would be a long list. Making such a list would also be a criminal waste of my present.

What’s done is done. There’s no going back. The past is unchangeable.

If you’re reading this, then you’re a human being, just like me. You’re not perfect but that’s okay. Really, it’s okay. Unless you were literally born yesterday, you have a past. And you’ve probably made a mistake or two somewhere in between the day you were born and today. That’s okay too. But repeatedly beating yourself up over your past mistakes is not okay. Stop that. It’s a useless endeavor.

Strike shoulda, coulda, woulda from your vocabulary.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda is a “what if” game. Nobody ever wins that game. Dwelling on what you did or didn’t do won’t change your present reality. Rehashing the past won’t change it. Focus on what you can do now instead. It’s a much better use of your time. You can choose to let go of the past, and whatever mistakes you made in it, and move on. The power to do so is yours if you take it.

Famous last words for today:

There’s no time like the present to let go of the past and move on.

That’s all for now. Have a fantastic Monday!
