Leaving the West – reflections on India, and American health care
The BBC article “Leaving the West” really hit home for me; I recently spent several weeks working in Bangalore – the untapped opportunity and cultural richness of this city blew me away. I worked with a team of young professionals, on a health technology and education project at St John’s Medical College. The people of the young generation in India are hardworking, and optimistically enthusiastic.

I used to live in Bangalore; from seventh grade to tenth grade. What struck me during the few years of my schooling spent there was the utter simplicity of life. When I went back this year, I saw that again. People manage to embrace technology and economic opportunity, but remain so simple in their approach to life. They prioritize their happiness.
