Late Night Beauty

By Amogere14

Last week, I urgently needed photos to showcase my makeup work. With the help of my cousin, Andrew, we turned our verandah into a late-night mini studio. We shot 2 makeup looks and decided to share them with you on the blog. Hope you like!

Before I continue, like Andrew’s Facebook page and check out more of his work on his Behance page. He takes awesome photos!

Look 1: Neutral Eyes and Lips

For this look, I went really neutral on the eyes and lips, just a taupe, brown-ish grey eyeshadow using a palette I borrowed from my sister, lined my eyes with my usual L’Oreal Superliner liquid eyeliner, my L’Oreal mascara and my nude lipstick by Rimmel in Birthday Suit (they can all be found in my Collective Beauty Haul post). I filled in my brows with a MAC eyebrow pencil in Spiked (I LOVE this pencil!) and highlighted right under my eyebrows with my concealer and a bit of eyeshadow in a sort of eggshell colour. The base of the look was my Revlon Colorstay foundation in Caramel and under that I used a Sephora primer to ensure the makeup stayed matte. On top of the foundation was my usual LA Girl Pro Concealer in Toffee (for my blemishes and dark circles) and used my MAC Mineralize SkinFinish powder in Dark to seal in the foundation.

I’d wear this look on probably an everyday basis: to school, to the office, to a meeting, etc.

Neutral Lips & Eyes

Look 2: Cat Eyes and Red Lips

To be honest, this is the second time in my life that I’ve attempted a cat eye on my makeup looks and it came out presentable. Guys, I have the most unsteady (is that a word?) hands in the world! It usually takes me so much time to draw a cat eye that I usually just ignore doing it altogether. I, however, am working towards perfecting the cat eye so that once I do, I can share the technique with you guys. As at now though, let’s just let the struggle continue being real.

So for this look, I still went for a neutral eye, but took it up a notch with the cat eye, and switched up the neutral lips for bold red lips. I basically used the same products as mentioned in Look 1 but switched the Rimmel lipstick for my MAC matte lipstick in Russian Red (which is almost exactly like Ruby Woo but has a more brownish undertone as opposed to Ruby Woo’s blue undertone).

I’d probably wear this look on a night out, or even on a dinner date or to a cocktail party. It sort of subtly makes a statement, if that makes any sense. :-)

In case you were wondering, my top is from TK Maxx, it’s one of those mixed textured floral print sweatshirts. I’ll probably do a proper outfit post with it soon. :-)
