If you've noticed anything about us this year, we'd like to think you've clocked on that we're all about relaxation and easy listening at the moment. MTNS have epitomised that this year and, for that reason, managed to get their single, Lost Track Of Time, to the top of our tracks of the year list ... anyway, we digress, what this all whittles down to, is a new single, that is as easy listening and wondrous as can be, and something we couldn't help but share.
Lacuna, from Last Lynx, is one of the most relaxingly brilliant new singles you'll hear this year (and that's saying something considering it's coming to an end), and we urge anyone to step forward who believes they have something calmer by their side that we've missed. The pace of the drums is, simply, very sweet. There's no urgency, and it really allows for your heartbeat to go in the same time, and ultimately, for you to just sit back and enjoy the scenery of your own soul.
The vocal is perfect. Quite possibly similar to Mikky Ekko, and another few names we can't quite put our finger on, it sweeps so lustfully alongside this track that it barely brushes the ear ... but all the same, it's the last thing to get out of our heads, and means that this one is an instant classic that we can't wait to add to our playlist.
We get that this isn't particularly Christmassy, though, that's not necessarily what this time of year is ALL about in terms of music. This, we think, is very much for the downtime of Christmas day, when you've stuffed yourself with Turkey, and Pigs in Blankets, to the point that you want to just watch the television until it's time to sleep. Well, we urge you to stay awake, to put down the remote, and to turn this one up ... you'll be relaxed and content in no time at all, and as an extra special gift, it's absolutely free right now!
Paul.
