Lash Extensions

By Brokebutbeautiful @never2broke4bea
If any of you follow me on Twitter you'll know that this week I have been a beauty blogger on the verge of some kind of a breakdown. The breakdown hasn't materialised as quite frankly I haven't had the time! I decided that I was going to treat myself in an attempt to perk myself up a bit so I booked in for my first set of lash extensions. I have a few friends who have them and one friend in particular whose lashes look amazing so I decided to go to Inside Spa in Nelson to have them done as this is where she goes.

Natural lashes

Even though I have friends who have them done I knew nothing about the process of getting lash extensions applied. I was escorted into a dimly room that you expect when you go for a massage. I lead down and the therapist placed pads underneath my eyes, this is to stop the lash extensions sticking to your bottom lashes. Then you basically close your eyes and relax for 2 hours as the lashes are applied! At first I was feeling a little anxious as I'm quite claustrophobic and didn't like the feeling of someone leaning over my face. Also, when I was told it would take two hours I couldn't help but worry that I was going to need a wee at some point! However, I soon gave in to the plinky plonky spa music, let my anxieties wash away and began to relax. I didn't quite fall asleep but it was definitely a nice way to spend a few hours and provided the much needed break I'd been craving!

Left: before Right: after

I've never even worn false lashes so I opted for a more natural look, however if I get them done again I may go for a little more of a dramatic look. You can wear mascara over these lashes, it must be oil free and you need to remove it with oil free makeup remover. These lashes cost me £60 and infills are £21, I'm hoping they'll last a good three weeks before they need doing again. I'm not convinced I'm 60 pounds worth of impressed with them but I am definitely looking forward to an extra 10 minutes in bed as I won't need to apply mascara. I think I'll go for a little bit of a longer lash next time so I feel like I'm getting my moneys worth..
