Lars the Photographer

Our second day in Romania was mainly devoted to the German settlers of the 12th century and how their history shaped the architecture in certain parts of Transylvania. The last day of our stay, Lars and I concentrated our attention to the region where we were actually staying: Székely Land. The word Székely refers to a subgroup of Hungarians from eastern Transylvania. The region where they live used to be autonomous, but that changed at the end of the 19th century.

Nowadays, more than 50% – 75% of the inhabitants in this area speak Hungarian. The most important place in the region is Odorheiu Secuiesc. It was our goal to visit this town and its surroundings. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel well, so Lars did some exploring on his own. Somehow he didn’t end up in Odorheiu Secuiesc, but in Cristuru Secuiesc:

Lars is not used to handling my camera. So, he only took 5 pictures. And then he came back, because he missed me too much. Anyway, what do you think about his pictures?
