THE PRODUCTMy skin is massively reactive. Therefore I always have to keep myself equipped with a mattifying (yet hydrating) cream and a rich/thick textured moisturising cream. This little bugger fulfils my latter requirements. The LaRoche-Posay Toleriane Riche is, as the name suggests, a rich and highly moisturising cream. It helps sooth dryness, stretchy-ness, keeps rashes away and keeps skin healthy and supple looking.
The cream works perfectly and does what it says, without being too greasy or oily. Although, the cream may just be a bit too thick for summers, it is a perfect got to cream during winters/autumn.The "mantra" of using this cream is "a little bit goes a long way". As long as your skin drinks it up, good. Do not let it sit on your skin, which means you have gone overboard applying this.

CONTROVERSY
This cream my friends lies on controversial grounds. If you see its ingredientist, it contains 2 of the very talked about compounds - Dimethiconole & Squalene (Shark Liver Oil).
Dimethiconole is basically silicone which has become a popular composition in most of cosmetic and skincare products.
The properties of Dimethicone makes the skin slippery, smoother, helps combat dryness and makes it softer.
Many have raised concers about having allergy to this compound. Although the Cosmetic Ingredient Review's (CIR) Expert Panel, has concluded that dimethicone and related polymers are "safe as used in cosmetic formulations."Squalene (Shark Liver Oil) is more complicated. now Shark Liver Oil is used during and after cosmetic surgeries. It is considered a great compound to reduce marks and lesions. Now this is more controversial as the alternative to Shark Liver Oil Squalene is Plant generated Squalene i.e Olive oil. The Plant based Squalene raises the cost by 30%. Hence, the Shark Liver Oil. But for this causes 2.7million sharks to be caught and killed.
AYES
- Soothes dryness (even eczema in some cases)
- Highly moisturising
- very little required for face+neck
- travel friendly packaging
- works well as a makeup base
NAYS
- expensive
- available only at La Roche Posay outlet ( in India)
- Dimethicone (for some)
- Shark Liver Oil (not bad for skin, but may offend environment supporters)
I like this cream a lot. Works well for me. I will most probably buy it again.
