These supposed dupes of YSL's  Pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stains, have become a major hit in the international beauty market. Finally, they have officially been launched in Asia Pacific and Australia under the name "Shine Caress". In the American market they are known as "Colour Caress" and "Glam Shine StainSplash" in UK.
I first laid my eyes on this beautiful pale gold bullet on the Amazon website. I fell in love with the packaging, read a few reviews (all glorious) and ordered myself one in the shade Infinite Fuchsia. A single piece cost me around $13 with shipping i.e around INR 750. Little did I know that within a few months it will be launched in India and that to at a price which will make it cheapest in the whole wide world.
Price Comparison

USA - $ 9.99 (INR 622 approx.)
UK   -  £7.59 (INR 775 approx)
Australia - ASD $23.95 (INR 1336 approx)!!!!!!!!!!
India - INR 499..   :D

You would think that because of such radically low price, the quality will not be as good. No.
The Colour Caresse has a mark of Made in USA and the Shine Caresse is Made in China. So is there any difference between the two?? Well. No. Both of the have same viscosity, texture and pigment concentration. Initially I did get fooled and thought that the Colour Caresse was better and they watered down the formula to make it cheaper in India. But I was simply deceived by the shade Infinite Fuchsia. This shade is the most pigmented of the lot. It is, I think, similar to Shine Caresse's Milady. So when I compared those two, they turned out to be exactly the same.
They only difference is that Shine Caresse has a smaller color range (8 colours) ast to Colour Caresse's 12.

SWATCH TAKEN UNDER FLUORESCENT LIGHT

The pigmentation in these two shades is very high, especially in Infinite Fuchsia. The Gloss stays on for around 4-5 hrs after which is starts fading. Although, the stain remains for ages. I literally had to smother my lips with Bioderma to take it off, an still a faint hint of it remained n my lower lip.

Juliet is a popping cherry red color with neutral undertones. Perfect for all skin types. It is a perfect spring summer red for its vividness.

Lightly Applied : Got Deeper and Darker after a few minutes.

Infinite Fuchsia is a highly pigmented deep plum colour with blue undertones. An amazing night time colour, it  develops and gets even darker while you wear it. This one leaves a bulletproof stain. Not available in Shine Caresse. Possible clone, Milady. An absolute autumnal wear.
The pigmentation varies from shade to shade. Like, Lolita , being pale pink nude color has low pigmentation and does not really leave a visible stain behind. Whereas, Milady and Juliet have more concentration and staining power.
Oh yes. another difference I just recalled is that the Shine Caresse have a sweet fruity smell. Whereas the Colour Caresse have practically no fragrance.
The Good :
  • groundbreaking product quality
  • inexpensive
  • easily available
  • long lasting
  • very moisturising
  • the stain really stains your lips :)
  • great formula
  • pretty packaging

The Bad :
  • colour range is limited.

These stain/glosses are highly moisturising. They last for ages and rarely need reapplying.  I am definitely going to buy more (probably all) shades available. It has for sure changed my plans of buying more of Maybelline Lip polishes that I recently reviewed. Don't get me wrong, they are great. But for the same price, these are way better.
xoxo
