Just Thai’s Pamathai Desserts!
Last Monday, a small group of bloggers were treated to an intimate dinner filled with chikahan at Just Thai in Molito, Alabang. I’m such a fan of Thai cuisine so I was really excited when I got a text invite from Kenny Ngo of Life is Kulayful and organizer of this event.
Yey, Just Thai…finally!
Actually, it has been a long time since I had Thai so I came really prepared - empty tummy, check!
So, for starters, we were served with two kinds of soup and Spring Rolls…
Tom Yum (super hot). Kenny specially ordered the hot one for me coz as it turned out, I was the only one in the group who likes spicy food! What’s nice with Just Thai is that they can adjust the hotness or the spice level of their dishes to suit your taste. For this dish, I give it two thumbs-up for the plump, succulent shrimp (there was only one!) as well as for tickling my throat and making my eyes water!
Thai Iced Tea / Tom Kha Gai (Chicken Coconut Soup). I love THAI ICED TEA, if only it has zero calories I would drink it every single day!
Oops, the TOM KHA GAI was almost finished before I remembered to take a photo - sorry! Anyway, I find this really good with the soup very aromatic and silky and the chicken tender to the bite. This dish is definitely a must order on every visit!
Thai Spring Rolls. Lumpia is lumpia, as long as it’s crispy, then it’s good!
For the main course, they served us the staples such as Pad Thai, Pandan Chicken, and Bagoong Rice. There were also Grilled Pork, Fish Fillets, Seafood in Basil.
The Pad Thai was already cold when I got to it so I won’t be able to give a fair judgment. Eaten cold, I find that it wasn’t as appetizing as when it’s freshly cooked.
Bagoong Rice. Sad to say, I’ve had better. Parang they scrimpted on the bagoong so it’s not that tasty!
Fillets of Fish. It was good but I’m not a fan of fish fillets…
Their Grilled Pork is on the sweet side so it went well with the Bagoong Rice.
Mixed Seafood in Basil. I enjoyed this dish! ! I like how the the basil gives the seafood a clean taste. I warn you, this is very makanin so you will need more than a cup of rice on this!
Pandan Chicken. The same with the Bagoong Rice, I’ve had better. But in fairness, the chicken pieces were really moist and tender, they’re were just not seasoned or marinated to my liking.
Now for the sweet ending, Sticky Rice + Mango and Tha Kho.
Prepare to drool!
Sticky Rice with Mango. Look how pretty! I almost didn’t want to eat it but it’s my favorite (as well as the Tha Kho) so I happily devoured my share. Gosh, so yummy! The sticky rice was perfectly cooked and has just the right sweetness while the mango is perfectly sweet.
These are silky, utterly divine and definitely worth the calories Tha Khos I tell you! Seriously…I can finish 2 orders in one sitting, it’s that yum yum yummy!
The verdict:
I will have to come back and choose what I really want to have to be able to rate Just Thai fairly. Coz, if I will just base on the pre-chosen dishes that were served, I would say I was not impressed!
Nevertheless, I’m beyond happy with the desserts and I would definitely be coming back for those Tha Khos and Sticky Rice with Mango!
For those who are not fond of Thai cuisine, do check out Just Thai if only for these desserts and the Thai Milk Tea, you will get hooked - promise!
Thank you Kenny and Just Thai for a fun evening, see you again soon!
