This post is really late, but better late than never, right? I thought it was worth sharing because BirchBox has slightly revamped their look and I feel like the box itself is trying a teeny tiny itsy bitsy bit harder to improve.
The box design itself has changed a little bit. The logo is now white instead of pink and has more of a clean, simplistic vibe. Not sure I like it better, but it's not a bad thing either. The interior is nice. They've added a chevron pattern to pretty up the box interior and I do like that change! It's a nice unexpected surprise. Now, with those changes noted, let's get on to June's samples!
First up is actually something I had seen in a prior box - not sure if it was BirchBox or not - and it's a product I really was interested in trying! Sadly, it's a pretty tiny sample (welcome to BirchBox), but at least it is something I am interested in. It is the Coola Classic Face SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face, which is a "mineral sunblock infused with organic evening primrose extract and borage seed oil." Coola is actually a vegan company, if I'm not mistaken, and they have a number of products I'm quite intrested to try...some day! :) So, thumbs mostly up on that sample!
Next is a full size product!!! It is the Glossy Kiss Lipstick from Mirenesse. I haven't tried it yet, but it's the kind of lip product I love! It is "an impeccably glossy natural lip & cheek stain with high impact color" in a chubby pencil! It's a nice, neutral shade called "Cheeky Kiss" and I'm really excited to test it out!
So as to not forget this is a BirchBox, the next thing I found were foil packets. Waaaah! At least there are 2 of them to give you a decent amount to try, but since it's a L'Oreal product, I probably won't be testing it out. It is the Kerastase Chroma Thermique - Protect, which is a leave-in styling aid that is applied to damp hair to protect color-treated hair from harmful UV rays. Though they are foil packets, I will say that the full size is a pricey $42, so the samples are still a decent value...especially considering you only need two nickel-size dollops for use. And they are generous size foil packets. I'm being too kind though, because they are still obnoxious due to their packaging! :)
Finally, we have an item I absolutely adore and will probably even buy from the BirchBox website! It is a BirchBox + Color Club mini Nail Polish in the shade "Reign in Spain." The color is gorgeous - and it even wears well! I wish it were a full size bottle because I love it!!! It is from the Wanderlust Collection that Color Club created with BirchBox. It was inspired by 4 of BirchBox's favorite cities (there were 4 color options and they are selling the mini bottles in a set of 4) and the shades are all neon pastels. I have never seen colors quite like them! Sort of similar, but never quite the same mix of bright, bold neons and muted baby pastels wrapped in to one shade. Really impressed with these colors and this made the box worth it this month! :)
As per usual, there is a Lifestyle Extra included. Unlike most months, I kind of like this month's Lifestyle Extra! It is from Tweezerman and is the Matchbox Itty Bitty Nail Files. They are really cute little polka dotted nail files in a matchbox-like container. Something cute that I might actually use, so props to BirchBox on that one too!!! :)
Overall, I would say this was a good month for BirchBox. Nothing mind blowing, but definitely a huge step up from other recent boxes. I'm not complaining about June's box...even with the foil packets!!! :) Hopefully this is a sign of better things to come from BirchBox. Time will tell.... :) Should you be interested in subscribing to BirchBox for $10/month, please click on my affiliate link here (I receive points that can be used towards purchases when that link is used, but nothing more).
Let me know what you think of June's BirchBox. Do you have high hopes for July? Or are you guessing it will be more of the same old crummy foil packets? :) I'd love to hear your thoughts!!! :)
