The thing I love about life - you get to start over every single day! Today is June 1 and today is a Monday. In preparation for this new month, this new day, I added a training schedule to the training section of this blog (#runSpaceCoast Training Schedule). Hopefully, by adding this schedule in plain view it will help keep me accountable in my training.
Since I've been home from Cleveland, I took the first week to let my ankle stop swelling because of poor training and travel. The next week I was going to jump right back into training, and as it turns out, I ran one mile, one day and that was the total of my weekly training.
If I am hoping and expecting to be able to complete a full marathon later this year, I need to be realistic right now and either increase and amp up my training or I need to give up this dream. Since it is early enough in the training cycle, I am choosing to step up my training game, starting right now. If I stay on track starting now, I will also be able to complete some of my other goals regarding distance, time and stamina in running.
Yesterday afternoon I spent some time going over meal plans and preparing healthy food choices for the week. By evening, I was preparing a training calendar based upon a 30-week Hal Higdon novice plan I found. I then "tweaked" the training plan to apply to my life so that it would include some of the races I'm already scheduled to run including the Myakka River Half Marathon-Run for the Memories (#runMyakka). Then, to seal the deal, I posted that calendar LIVE and shared the link with those closest to me who actually watch my training.
This morning I did the ultimate "start over" thing - I woke up and weighed myself. I confirmed that I am officially the heaviest weight I've been in about ten years, but since this is the first day of the new training mentality, today I choose to believe this is the last time I will be this heavy. I won't be able to eat right and train properly and stay this weight, it will have to fall somewhere, right?
There are so many other opportunities available to me if I choose to train with other people. My dear friends, the Running Chix in Punta Gorda, have a kick off to their new 2015 training schedule starting up this Saturday - I've been invited to participate, and if any of you are interested, check out their Facebook page ====> HERE.
I recently met a personal trainer from Venice, Deb Peters over at Authentic Fusion at an open house. Debi has many different plans available and for her, "it's all about your journey," and I really liked that. She has personal training, TRX, yoga and wellness programs and she also does private, semi-private and small groups. You can check her out here =====> HERE.
I also talked to another woman recently who lives in my local area. She's a personal trainer and I told her the goal I was trying to achieve, and she said she would be glad to work with me. I know that option is available if I decide I need to go that route.
What I'm going to do for today is what I will call the 3P's - Pray, Plan and Practice. When the training gets rough, I'll use the other 3P's - Persistence, Passion and P erseverance.
If it turns out this doesn't work for me, I will look into the other options I know are available. I also know I need to start digging deep - the majority of training is about the mental condition and what I believe about myself and my abilities.
