More than 200 parks supporters braved their way through a heavy thunderstorm to attend the Friends' Summer Party at the Four Seasons Hotel on Wednesday, July 17. Once inside, attendees enjoyed drinks and hors d' oeuvres, and festive company in the hotel's cool, dry, and beautiful ballroom. Cambridge Trust was the generous event sponsor.
Executive Director Liz Vizza welcomed the crowd and shared updates on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall Statue Lighting project and recent work in the parks which includes planting more than 100 new rose bushes to replace those eaten by bunnies last year. Board Chair Leslie Adam thanked members who were present and invited others to become members of the Friends and act as advocates for the parks. Adam emphasized the importance of member input into the Boston Common Master Plan process beginning this year, to a roar of applause.
Cambridge Trust representatives Stacy Sheehan and Marc Gearin chose the lucky raffle prize winners. Prizes included an overnight stay at the TAJ Boston Hotel, two Boston to Provincetown Fast Ferry tickets, brunch at The Bristol, and dinner for two at Toscano, Democracy Brewing, and Parker's.
Proceeds from the event support the Friends efforts to renew, care, and advocate for the Boston Common, Public Garden, and Commonwealth Avenue Mall.
