The thing about a boss is: they’re the boss of you. They can tell you where to be and when, what to do and how. In many organisations they can even influence personal decisions like what you wear or how you cut your hair. While the “horrible boss” portrayed here by Kevin Spacey is pretty extreme, he sums up the main and very real downside of being employed with this line:
“I own you. You’re my bitch. Don’t walk around here thinking you have free will because you don’t: I could crush you any time I want.”
