Irving Farms

Coffee drinkers are one reliable group of people.  If you are a coffee drinker, you know what I mean.  After all, it's my second post about coffee this month! You drink it religiously, likely every morning, perhaps as a mid-afternoon pick me up, and when out at a restaurant, it may be the last thing you enjoy before that bill arrives. There a a wide variety of coffee roasters, chain stores, and even food trucks from which you can grab a cup of joe--but have you heard of Irving Farm?  They were founded in Manhattan in 1996 with a little cafe space near Union Square, still known as 71 Irving Place. “Irving Farm’s founders soon realized that to deliver a truly craft-focused, hands-on approach to their love of coffee, we’d simply have to roast it, too.”Irving FarmsIn 1999 they transformed a Hudson Valley farm into a roasting facility, and the name Irving Farm, a blend of city and country, just like their product, came to be. “Nowadays, Irving Farm supplies our carefully selected, handcrafted coffees to three beautiful cafes in that same metropolis, as well as our coffee house in Millerton, keeping the focus on sustainability and building direct relationships with the coffee farmers who grow the beautiful coffees that both the country and the city love so much.”Irving FarmsAs the summer kicks in, iced coffee is in high demand, and Irving Farm translates beautifully.  I love iced coffee on a sunny day, mixed with vanilla almond milk as a quick, sweet vegan snack. To pick up a cup today, head to Baked by Butterfield in NYC, grab a small, medium or large, and fix it up any way you like. What a delicious way to beat the heat!
