This Irish Milk Punch also known as Scaltin is a very old Irish recipe. It is sweetened with honey and has lots of Jameson to make things even more fun.

It is almost Saint Patrick’s day.

I think it is the only day that just about everyone wants to claim they are Irish. I don’t know of any other holiday that you would like to be say French, or Spanish. Do you?

Yup! Us Irish love our Saint Patrick’s day almost as much as we like to drink and that is saying a lot.

Speaking of drinking here is a Irish drink I think you will enjoy.

If you have the sniffles and a sore throat by this will sooth you. This drink is perfect for those cold and damp days.  Sit in your favorite chair read a book and sip on this. Enjoy it, you will be glad you did.

Scailtin (Milk Punch)

Ingredients:

2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup Irish Whiskey (I used Jameson)
2 tablespoons honey
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
Grated Nutmeg for garnish

Directions:

Pour the milk and whiskey into a small saucepan and stir in the honey and vanilla.
Heat slowly on low not allowing the mixture to boil. Whisk to allow the honey and vanilla to dissolve and to create a froth.
Pour into warm mugs and sprinkle with fresh nutmeg.
Serve hot.

Peace be with you,

Veronica
