My Ipsy bag showed up last week and, keeping with tradition, I thought I'd share the contents!
As you can see, there's nothing particularly remarkable about the bag itself. The bags themselves have been kinda boring lately, and I must say that I'm getting a massive collection of bags that I do not know what to do with. But upon opening the bag, things were a little more cheery!
It has a cute star print inside! But enough about the bag, onto the samples of the month!
The first thing I saw was a full size Nailtini Nail Lacquer. I was so excited because the last time they sent one of these, it was really beautiful and I absolutely loved it! The only problem this time was the color. It's not a bad color, it's just a pretty standard red that I seem to be collecting by the dozen recently. It's called "Bloody Mary" which is cute and it is a nice red, I just have too many similar reds lately.
Next up is a Spray & Play Volumizing Hairspray from Big Sexy Hair. I might be more excited about this if I didn't have an identical can that is pretty much never used that is already sitting in my bathroom. I'm sure it's actually a great product, but I never use it. I'm just not big on hairspray (no pun intended!). It's a great travel size sample (it's the same mini size you can buy at Ulta), it's just something I already have and don't use, so I'm not too excited for a second one.
Then I saw a product I absolutely love, but again, it's something I have already tried. It's the Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil Organic Moisturizer. I have a full-size bottle of this and I really like it, but I'm not 100% convinced that it didn't cause me to breakout. This was one of many new products I tried within maybe a month's time, so I'm not sure what the culprit was. I had never tried a facial oil before, but I loved the sunscreen version with Argan oil in it so I picked up the straight oil as well. It was not at all greasy and it didn't make me greasy either. It seems like a really great moisturizer, but as I said, I'm not certain it didn't cause me to breakout. I believe Argan oil is actually supposed to help with breakouts, but I'm not certain about that and it doesn't mean my skin just didn't like it either. Anyway, this is a great sample, but again I can't get that excited about it because I have tried it before. I believe this is the travel size you can buy for $10 at Sephora, which pays for the cost of the entire bag right there!
The final product inside the bag was from Pacifica, which is a company I am not familiar with. It is the Tuscan Blood Orange Body Butter and it smells delicious!!! It's a good size sample, weighing in at 2.5 fl oz. According to the tube, it is 100% Vegan, no animal ingredients, they do not test on animals, and it is made in the USA. Also, a portion of the proceeds supports clean water. The body butter is free of parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, peanut oil and artificial color. Very nice sample that I am thrilled to try!!!
Finally, in addition to the bag, there is a Concealer Brush from a company that I think is just called Soho. I believe these are available at Walgreens. It looks like a nice concealer brush. It is kind of a medium to small flat, rounded-tip brush that, according to the packaging is supposed to "deposit just the right amount of concealer onto the skin." It also has an ergonomic handle which I'm not really sure makes much difference, but we'll find out! Definitely a step up from the original My Glam brushes that were being thrown in monthly for a while there. I don't tend to use brushes for concealer, but I may give this a shot just to see if I like using a brush for concealers! :)
So that is what Ipsy included in the January bag this year! It's actually a really nice bunch of products, though there's not much makeup which is what I tend to like about Ipsy. I have just tried a lot of these things already so I'm not terribly excited about the contents. Actually, though I've tried the Josie Maran Argan Oil before, if I determine it doesn't make me breakout, I'm really glad I now have a travel size bottle because the full size is heavy! :) It's actually a pretty good bag, so well done again Ipsy!
