Late last year I decided that I wanted to make my social media usage more meaningful and uplifting. I wasn't sure how I was going to do that and actually took a break from everything until I got my hands on Make It Happen by Lara Casey.
While reading I realized that the thing that was really missing from my feed was encouragement and motivation. There were lots of pretty pictures, interesting advertisements (mainly for It Works) and a ton of cute kids, but every time I scrolled through I felt like my life wasn't good enough. I felt like what I was doing was not a worthwhile use of my time.
Somewhere along the way I just happened to search the hashtag #instauplift. There were a few pictures, but nothing that gave me that quick boost I needed, so I decided to fill in that space with what I wanted to see. April has been the first month of that, so I wanted to share with you what I'm hoping this space will become, hopefully with your help.
Each month I'm going to pick a book that seems like it will be full of inspiration and wisdom. Make It Happen was April's focus and in just a bit I'll announce May's. I'll announce the next month's choice mid-month of the month prior. (I would love your suggestions for some inspiring reading!) I encourage you to read along and share what you love, but I don't want to limit it to just that.
Whenever you come across something that gave you an instant uplift, share it on Instagram with a little #instauplift. I'm hoping that eventually it will be this tag that we can all go to for that extra push that we need or that lift we need at the end of a long day.
Anyway, the book I'm reading for May is Mastering Your Mean Girl by Melissa Ambrosini. I've heard some wonderful things about the author and I'm looking forward to learning more about how I can get my inner mean girl critic in check!
