Read to know what he has to say:
A few months ago, I got an email from a city resident who asked me to visit her place because her carpet was damaged due to infestation of carpet beetles. The carpet beetles often used to bite her at night. Big and itchy with a burning sensation that indicated that they were not mosquito bites. Fist she thought it to be the spider. However, after she cleaned and vacuumed everything that were in her bedroom, she still got a few bites. Then she thought it to be the bed bugs. She did everything that was possible but found no signs of bugs were found.
One of the pest control companies then suspected that it was probably the carpet beetles and not the bed bugs. Actually it was only the wife that was getting the bites and not the husband. After all, few people are allergic to carpet beetles and a few are not but almost everyone are allergic to bed bugs. Ultimately it was found out that there were no bed bugs but some dead carpet beetles.
The insects were found dead. So, there was no point treating them chemically. The home owner just wanted to make sure to remove all the allergens from environment. What she did is asked my team who specialize in carpet repairing, restoration, steam cleaning and carpet laying in Perth to first steam clean her carpet thoroughly and then start with the repairing work.
The carpet beetles actually caused a lot of damage to the fibres. They damaged mostly around the walls. What our carpet repair specialists thus did is put a border cutting out all the damaged section while increasing the value of the carpet at the same time.
Just like bed bugs carpet beetles may get attracted to you while you are asleep because of CO2 gas that you exhale. They are basically shy in nature, so finding them out would be quite a hard task. They generally feed on animal-based products like wool, animal hair, silk, natural fibres, leather etc. As a result, they often infest upholstered furniture, wool, carpets, coats and such other things. They are most active during summers in Perth.
