Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden is to be found at the foothills of the Zabarwan Mountains which are present on the banks of the Dal Lake, Srinagar. The garden is most spacious one in Srinagar.
The sprawling Asia's largest tulip garden in Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar holds thousands of visitors admit a mesmerizing ambience to this 90-acre tourist allure in the Valley.
Located very close to the acclaimed Mughal Gardens of Chashma Shahi, Nishat and Shalimar, the Kashmir tulip garden is seen as an intense landmark in making holidays memorable for thousands of calm and adopted tourists who visit to the Valley every year.
When viewing the garden you are able to see the ample array of colors of the flowers, and there are over 60 varieties of early, mid and backward blooming tulips. The tourism authorities in the state said they are using the festival to promote the state as an adopted destination.
"Most of Indians go to Holland just to see tulips, but now this abode is near and more affordable for the domestic tourists. We feel we will get more tourists. We have come to know that about 1200 tourists and mostly outsiders have visited here," said Tanveer Jahan, a secretary of tourism department.
The prime allure here is the ample array of Tulips found in thousands of numbers. The site is adorable during the full blossom season with all shades of the rainbow scattered on the fields of this garden.
Tulip, which has its origin in Persia (Iran), was introduced in Europe in 17th century, where it had been developed in altered varieties. Holland is the largest ambassador of tulips, which inhabits the mountain areas extending from Europe to Central Asia. The land of tulips begins from September, before the beginning of winter season.
There are over 70 varieties of tulips in the garden and the shimmering garden is also home to the annual Tulip festival around the month of April.
Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden Srinagar is visited by bags of tourists from all over the world. The month from March to May is considered as the best time to visit the garden, but April is as well admired month a part of annual lovers.
Every year in the month of April, Jammu Kashmir government celebrates Tulip Festival in which tourists can adore amazing angle of the area at its abounding bloom. The amusement is accompanied by several cultural programs. The garden opens from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM every day.
