Indie Nail Polish HAUL - D&R; Apothecary (Part 2)

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig

Here is Part 2 of my D & R Apothecary indie polish haul. As before, I will link the polish on Etsy, if it is still available, to the polish name. All but one bottle are minis (7ml) and cost around $4.00 each. And I must say, the bottles are the cutest little things! They have a full size brush, which is great because I know the OPI minis have horrible brushes. I have to say that I have not tried all of these out yet, but I wanted to show you what I found. If you’re interested, check out D & R Apothecary for some unusual and beautiful glitters because she certainly has tons! J Indie Nail Polish HAUL - D&R; Apothecary (Part 2)
First today, we have Lullaby, which is a full size bottle. I didn’t see it as a mini and it was probably my favorite of the polishes, so I figure I’ll get more use out of it! Plus, it’s a jelly/crelly polish, meaning it has a colored base, often (and in this case) with glitter suspended in it. These polishes often take more coats to create a more opaque finish, but they can also be applied in fewer coats for a sheer effect. I love polishes like this – if they’re done well – because they create kind of a multi-dimensional effect with the glitters suspended in the base. I have tried this polish out, and it was very easy to apply, needed only 3 coats to be fully opaque and the glitter sits quite smoothly on the nail. It is also wearing well – no chipping! It has a white base with an almost baby blue tint to it. The glitter is the same as in Boy Loves Girl (from Part 1), so it is a mix of aqua, rose and navy shred, hex, square and round glitters of varying sizes. I really love this polish! It’s not too kid-like, but still fun. Definitely one of my favorites!

The next one I really like because it is quite unusual. It is called Queen of Hearts and, as expected, it is sparkling with reds, golds, blacks and whites. There are red, black, white and gold hearts among the more traditional round, hex and square glitters. Really fun!

Raspberry Cabaret is the next polish. There are square, hexagonal and shredded glitters in this polish. They include colors like baby pink, fuchsia, white and royal purple. It’s a real mixture of shades that is perfectly named.

Next up is Retro Chic which I saw over s mint polish in her shop and it looked so pretty! The polish consists of baby and rose pinks plus pale aqua glitters with subtle hints of blue and black glitters. It looks like it is all hexagonal glitter in a variety of sizes. Again, really nice!

The last polish I ordered is called Spring’s Arrival. This one is another one that I really like because it’s unusual. It’s also great for Easter! It contains grass green, baby pink, lavender, yellow and pale aqua shred, square and hex glitters. That’s not the fun part though! There are little flower and butterfly glitters as well! They are sprinkled around like festive signs of Spring in aqua, pink, lavender and yellow. Really, really cute and perfect for Spring!

Finally, she included “March’s Thanks” because my order reached $35.00 during a sale (I believe each weekend the polishes are on sale, but you’ll have to look into her store to verify that one). I really like this polish as well! It is predominantly made of finer glitters in pink, turquoise and holographic with black shred accents. And then to top it off, there are silver holographic stars! It’s really pretty and I like it a lot! J

So there you have my giant nail polish mini haul! J It will probably take me years to use them all, but I couldn’t decide on any fewer – believe me, I tried and did eliminate quite a few! J I really like the option to purchase mini bottles, especially for glitters since I tend to use it more as an accent or a light top coat and do not use as much with each use. If you’re in the market for some new and unusual, yet still pretty glitters, I would definitely check out D & R Apothecary on Etsy. Her prices are reasonable and virtually everything can be purchased as a mini or a full size bottle, plus she has tons of polishes available! I’m really happy with these and I hope you enjoyed peering at them as well! J
