6 kilometers to the north of Targoviste lies the 15th century Dealu Monastery. Apart from this being a magnificent site, this is also the place where some relatives of Vlad The Impaler are buried, including his father. Vlad himself, by the way, is buried elsewhere, but more about that later. Nowadays, the monastery serves as a nunnery.
We returned to the center of the town and went to the park. All over Targoviste are statues of Vlad and his family, especially in the park. There were a lot of people about, probably because it was Saturday afternoon and the weather was quite nice. Lars and I had a rest and a drink, watched some people playing cards and at the end went to a restaurant.
We spent one day in this lovely town and would love to come back and do some more exploring!
