I saw this awesome quote yesterday by Ann Patchett that made me think about whats in my cup”:
“Writing is a job, a talent, but it’s also the place to go in your head. It’s the imaginary friend you drink your tea with in the afternoon…”
Wow… imaginary friends! Yes…when I read this, I totally understood the comment about “Tea Friendship!”
Takes me back. I used to have several imaginary friends! Yes, I was a little lonely as a child but I believe being lonely also made me kind of aware, as well.
Tea friendship is like none other. I totally can get creative with my tea and then move into deeper writing because of … the smooth taste and relaxing calm, that completely rejuvenates my soul and makes more intriguing my ability to write more fully! I am have become such a creative soul in my adult life. I am realizing the more creative I become, that there are certain things that really encourage my writing and make it full of intrigue, meditative and mysterious.
There are also a few more things that factor in…
1. One of them, is colors.
2. Another is what I am doing while writing, and usually it has something to do with “what’s in my cup“.
3. Another particular, is my lighting. And as you can see here, I can’t do really bright lights, I need a little warm mood, settling over my work.
4. Music always helps….but sometimes not… I can do classical, but I really, really have to be in the mood for it.
And lastly….
5. I need Quiet. With a capital ‘Q’. So I have this writing room that I spend time in – which has actually been very warm and quaint. It’s small and it’s my inside office-patio. I love it, because it’s big enough for one, and it has these HUGE wide windows that open up to a wonderful view of my backyard. ( But that’s another blog post!)
So let me tell you .. what’s in my cup is ALL about self-care. ( Check out self care blog, over here…)
I completely love tea, and I love also drinking.
I am a sweet , fruity-kind of drinker. Anything Tangerine-ish... fruity – tea included, helps me to be quite sprightly!
So as I share my little ‘self calming’ secrets,
I want you to know that it’s all about the need to be in the right mindset, having that right sensation, where creativity ‘totally’ flows for me. And I must admit, I have begun to ‘master this territory’. I have endured some very difficult and emotionally painful experiences that have allotted me that treasure.
I must admit, I had it at a young age, went through some trauma as a kid, and seemed to have lost it all, bu then, years later ( several years later), in fact – it sort of rose from the dead – my creativity that is, after meeting some wonderful friends who really began to challenge my thinking and helped push me to the other side. Other Side Enterprises, LLC – by the way, is the name of my creative life coaching/ and writing coaching business that helps people clear away the clutter, usher in greater self-care, and work to get to the other side of their creativity.
Everyone has a place where they really feel quite ‘groovy’… and I am certain that groove is the place where you begin to really thrive and find yourself closer to having that sense of ‘nirvana’, if you will.
Kudos to what’s in the cups of today!
I have to say, this is one of my favorite posts, it make my toes tingle…sorta like my tea does… (Smile).
