Improving My Cake Decorating Skills with Cake Angels

By Mummyoftwo @RaspberryGiggle

I have spoken before about how I like to bake cakes, particularly for the Little A's birthdays, however, my decorating skills aren't up to much! I always have grand plans but can never quite pull them off.

Cake Angels recently came to my rescue by sending me a great selection of their cake decorating goodies.

Cake Angels sell a great range of easy to use cake decorating items that can help you create more professional looking cakes at home. As well as this, their website also has some great recipes and inspiration ideas to get you started.

We received the following items to try out....

Sweet Treats Icing Decorations....

I really loved these icing decorations. They come in a really easy to use plastic box which means they won't get broken easily. They look really professional and really add that little touch of professionalism to your cupcakes very easily. They are really crunchy and tasty and the Little A's loved the fun element of the decorations and Little Mr A loved choosing which cake we were all going to have!

Chocolate Fudge Icing...

This pot of icing really is great! I always struggle to get my icing just right for piping so having it ready made for me was such a bonus and saved me a lot of time! It was very easy to get out of the pot and into my icing bag and was soft enough to pipe straight away.

It was also delicious! It had a great chocolatey, fudgey taste without being too overpowering. I wasn't sparing in using it and managed to cover 18 cupcakes with a bit left over for tasting - purely for review purposes obviously!

Pearl Swirls...

These are like the icing decorations above, however, more grown up. Each box contains 24 little flowers with a silver ball in the centre. They are quite small so you really need two or three on top of a cupcake, however, with 24 in a box this isn't really a problem! Again, they were really crunchy and sweet and I really liked how they added that little bit of a grown up edge to the cupcakes.

Chocolate Passion...

This is a great tub packed full of five different types of chocolate sprinkles. Each different type of sprinkle is in a separate compartment with an individual lid so it is easy to use just one type at a time.

The sprinkles are a great size and I found them really easy to get out of the tub to pop on top of my cupcakes. They also tasted great too!

As well as using them on top of cakes, we have also eaten them on top of ice cream and they are a great little added treat.

This is a great sized bag of mini marshmallows which are perfect for the top of cupcakes, as an extra treat on a hot chocolate or for just eating a handful of every now and then! They are sweet, delicious and a must for any marshmallow lover!

In this set you receive 8 candles with four different animal prints. They look really stunning and different to your everyday candle and I think they would be perfect for a grown up's birthday cake.

Overall I am really impressed with the Cake Angels range of products. They are easy to use, great quality and have really helped to improve the look of my cakes! I will definitely be looking out for them in the future.
