Imaginary Landscape

By Pmeurice
As we recently moved in, I approached painting on a decorative mood... I wanted to have painting for our lounge which was an abstraction, and symbolizing the calm, the freshness and intimacy of an underwood - as well, I wanted to push my current pastel painting approach to a bigger format, and see if I was satisfied with the sensations I'd get while working.
I found the biggest format of thick watercolor sheets I could, primed it with an acrylic pumice preparation, and dived in.
I dived in colors, splashed and rubbed pastels... working through both imagination and senses... looking for the poesy one can find in the silence and freshness of a quiet place.
And here it is : an underwood

Imaginary Landscape

An Underwood
Pastel on Paper - 60 X 85 cm

I drafted some other color compositions on which I hope to be able to work soon... more to come... probably in the same scale, as I enjoyed the freedom of movements wider formats are offering, and also the challenge it causes... thinking of keeping the atmosphere rather than focusing on details...
