As time passes, so does the opportunity to make great films. A legendary collection of filmmakers are entering their twilight years and who knows how many films greats like Spielberg and Scorsese have let in them. Throughout the years they have made countless classics and have been able to create pop culture references that will stand the test of time.
What about the directors that didn’t have all that time? Or even the directors who you wish were still alive today to bring their unique visions to multiplexes everywhere.
Some of the all-time great directors who aren’t around anymore to share their visions:
Akira Kurosawa
David Lean
Ingmar Bergman
Stanley Kubrick
Yasujirō Ozu
How about those directors whose life was cut short:
F.W. Murnau (42)
Jean Vigo (29)
Krzysztof Kieślowski (54)
Sergei Eisenstein (50)
R.W. Fassbinder (36)
For my choice it would be between Stanley Kubrick and Krzysztof Kieslowski. Both directors where in no way showing decline in their work and I would’ve loved to see more of their films.
