I Took The Plunge

By Bren @Virtual_Bren

And opened myself up to the world of Bare Minerals by Bare Escentuals. For quite some time now, I’ve been intrigued by the commercials for Bare Minerals. This makeup is suppose to leave you with flawless skin and hide imperfections.

Now I’m sure they better way to do this would to have visited a salon or store where they sell this stuff. However, the closest one is over and hour away and yes, I’m too lazy to drive that far for makeup. So I opted for online.

They offer Get Started Kits which include the basics: primer, foundation, all over face color, mineral veil, and 3 brushes. You can even customize it for color. If you’re unsure of your color, you can Find Your Perfect Match Now that helps you figure out what color to choose for your foundation and which type you prefer.

So I used the “match” indicator and actually had a hard time with it. They ask about the color of your veins to help match it. Unfortunately, when my kit arrived, my foundation was way too light. Apparently, I’m darker than I thought.

So I contacted Bare Escentuals about the foundations color and to my surprise, they allow you a one time color change…. FREE! The representative on the phone asked me a series of questions and in order to help me receive the right color, she asked me to compare my skin to a few celebrities that she named. Cool right?

I think she mentioned Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock or Reese Witherspoon and I was like “Sure.” Come to find out, I’m a medium beige gal. I received my correct foundation and then got to work.

Mind you, prep time in the a.m. takes a few more minutes due to primer dry time, then fussing, swirling, fussing a lil more, and swirling again. Do I like what I’m seeing? Hmm..it’s ok. I think the best part I like so far is the primer and the brushes!

I haven’t really noticed too many differences from my previous Cover Girl foundation so not sure if I’ll continue with their products or not. I do like the idea of SPF20 in the foundation though.

Have you tried Bare Minerals yet? And if so, what do you like or dislike?

I’ve been using for less than a month so I’m still open to changing my mind if ya’ll have some great reviews and/or other Bare Escentuals products I should try.
