How to Survive SXSW

By Kels_chaz22 @kels_chaz22

How to survive SXSW Right after our interview with YouTube sensation, Kassem. How to survive SXSW With Daniel Sunjata at the Graceland TV party at the Art House. How to survive SXSW A little photo booth ridiculousness. How to survive SXSW Icona Pop performing at the Belmont. How to survive SXSW I think we gave this guy a run for his money in the mustache department. How to survive SXSW Shaquille O'Neal is pretty pleased with himself for picking up the pixie, aka my friend, Callie. How to survive SXSW Macklemore walking all over the audience. Literally.
So if you follow me on any social media outlet, you have probably noticed that I have been at SXSW all week. If you follow me and happened to have missed that detail, well, that's just impossible. This is my first year at South By with a badge and let me tell you, it was well worth the investment. I honestly don't think I'll go again without one. Shorter lines, better shows, need I say more? Not saying you can't have a good time without one, but why just have a good time when you can have a great time?
So now that we're deep into South By, I've picked up a few tips and tricks on how to have the best week ever.
What to bring:
  • A koozie: Because cold beer is great, until your hand freezes.
  • Cash: Don't empty out your bank account or anything, but pedi-cabs and taxis are a must this week.
  • Emergen-C: Gotta keep that immune system going strong!
  • A mophie extra iPhone battery: This has been my lifesaver this week. Seriously keeps my phone charged all day (even when I'm tweeting/Instagramming like a mad person). They even have cases for the iPhone 5 which is nice.
  • Colored wayfarers: Just in case you end up in a rave or something. Hey, you never know.
  • Your business cards: Because South By brings in the coolest people and you might need to keep in touch!
  • A good attitude: Lines and waiting are inevitable this week so don't expect anything less. Hang out with your friends or meet new people while you wait in line. I promise they don't bite. Well, most of them.
There may be only two days left, but make sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram to keep up with the madness.  Now I've got to get back out there, but for more of my tips for SXSW, check out this other post from last year.
