By Pamela Brown

stress quote 2Do you find it hard to cope with menopause symptoms and daily life and family demands?  It’s understandable if you do, considering you have a lot happening in your life.  Aging parents, troublesome teenagers, unfulfilled needs, and changing bodies are only a small of situations that occur everyday.  Feeling out of control, unhappy, and overwhelmed doesn’t have to be your reality.  So how can you prevent and manage stress?

Here are 5 ways to decrease stress.

1. Decrease worry, anxiety, and pressure in your life.  Stay away from people, places, and things that trigger negative moods and emotions.  Consider the following:

  • Make a list of your favorite activities and find ways to use them when stressed.  Hobbies and interests increases joy, which leads to less stress
  • Do social media drama weigh you down?  Decrease how much you visit those sites.
  • Do you surround yourself with positive, successful people?  Misery loves company; make sure you steer clear of it.

2. Become proactive versus reactive.  How do you respond to situations?  Your response to an event, not the event itself, is what determines your experiences.  Develop a positive attitude by creating positive affirmations, viewing menopause transition as normal or a new phase of life,  or focusing on what’s positive about your career and life.  In every situation, change what you can, and manage what you can’t.
