Honeyed Spiced Vodka
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups honey
2/3 cup water
1 vanilla bean split or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 cinnamon sticks
2 whole cloves
4 allspice berries (optional)
Zest of a medium orange
Zest of a small lemon
2 cups vodka or grain alcohol
Directions:
Combine honey, water, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and the zest of both the orange and lemon. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce and simmer about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat. Strain through a cheese cloth or coffee filter. Add vodka. Serve hot or cold. This makes approximately 1 quart.
