Bloating is experienced by every human being in his lifetime. It is the feeling of fullness in the abdominal area along with discomfort. Some people may experience swelling and tightness in the stomach and feel like their stomach has grown bigger than usual. Some eating disorders can also combine the bloating problem with gas. Bloating can also affect the daily activities of a person and some critical cases may need special attention and some changes in the diet and daily activities. Gas along with bloating can cause more discomfort. Gas is a normal process in the food digestion, but excess gas may cause discomfort.

Some of the symptoms of bloating and gas are:-

  • Diarrhea
  • Tightness in the stomach

  • There are different home remedies to reduce gas and bloating. The best solution is to avoid all foods that cause gas and bloating. Maintain a diary or a notebook which can give you a clear idea when you experience gas or bloating. Avoid that food and others like cauliflower, chewing gum, aerated drinks, sprouts, legumes, Mellons and apples. They can lead to gas and bloating.
  • Avoid eating rice as it has a type of starch that produce gas.
  • Increase the water intake and avoid drinking carbonated drinks. Cut down on the alcohol.
  • Avoid eating too much as it can be the cause of bloating and may lead to gas. Heavy and fatty meals, meals with lots of sugar, starchy foods into the meals can cause bloating. Avoid eating them as it may be difficult in digestion ad may lead to stomach cramps, fullness, bloating and gas. One should practice eating smaller meals three to four times in a day.
  • Eating very fast can lead to swallowing the food. Many people just gulp the food and do not chew it. Slow eating will also make you enjoy the food and help in weight loss. If you finish your food within twenty minutes, then you need to slow down and eat slowly. Make sure that you enjoy every spoon of your meal and enjoy it. This habit may decrease the bloating issue effectively.
  • High salty foods like soda, chips, junk food and packed foods are the main players that add to bloating. Foods that have Sodium retain the water level in the body and hence lead to bloating.

It is advised that if the symptoms lead to emergencies like severe pain, sudden weight loss heartburn, vomiting and stools that have blood in it should be immediately referred to the physician who can treat them before they get worse. Probiotics can be taken as it increases the good bacteria in the stomach and relieves from bloating.
