Hold My Hand ,Share My Load

By Shalinidigvijay @shalinidigvijay
Its always the dirtiest , meanest job to try and decipher statistics and numbers. But then someone's got to.do it.And like all messy jobs its generally the MOM or the woman of the house who does it.Thats is the rule of nature. We see it in the animals too... remember how cats treat their kittens? No way will they allow daddy Tom Cat to lick the dandy little kittens clean. And the same goes in the fellow humans. The Tom cats are allowed to waste their time playing games or just wasting their time, but its mommy dear who does all the dirty work. And god forbid, mother in law allows Tom Cat to dirty his hand doing the menial jobs at home.I don't know who I should credit when he volunteers to load the machine and clean the wash rooms - the academy that trained him to become an officer or the fact that he has this obsession to ensure work is not pending. So becausethe daddy does his share of chores ,sweet child has been made to fetch water ,slippers (yup , just like a pet doggie ;-) ), throw the trash and even pick up the dishes after lunch and dinner.Would I have done the same if I'd had a daughter? Definitely.Would I have done the same if I'd had a son and a daughter? Definitely. Its extremely important that children, especially boys realize that mom is not going to be cleaning after them. She has her own life. She may just want to read that book before it's due at the library.I've seen some mums make their daughters fetch and make the tea, while their sons have better things to do. Ive seen working moms.who teach their younger daughters to make chapatis so that their sons can eat hot rotis while they are at Work.Lots of dads do just that.Just as the dad in this commercial admitted to having done. Only because the woman has been raised to expect this frim her man.Don't believe it? Statistics again.Shocking, isnt it?Hold my Hand ,Share my Load
Only this morning I was speaking with a friend who told me that she had been down with migraine last week and even in that haze ,she had made Ramen Noodles and tea for her family. Totally rueing the fact that her 16 year old daughter is capable of burning water.Gender bias or trying to pamper the daughter , I know not.But I am so glad that  I taught my son how to cook. And load the dishwasher and the washing machineI am so glad rhat hubby dear feels no shame in cleaning the washrooms or loading the washing machine when the maid is missing in action.Even if the mother in law chastises him for doing so.Because its time to realize that you may need to do it all yourself. When the time comes , I hope my son will ease the burden of his partner. Maybe a friend or a girlfriend or later in life,his.wife. Because love and respect mean so much more than red roses and diamonds and chocolates.I hope I have instilled in him good values and the knowledge that its never beneath you to contribute to the chores at home.
Because when you want to hold her hand , you must be able to share her load.
I am joining the Ariel#ShareTheLoad campaign at BlogAdda and blogging about the prejudice related to household chores being passed on to the next generation.
