The odor is caused by bacteria in our armpits, and on the scalp, near hair follicles and on the groin area. When sweat comes in contact with these bacteria, odor is produced.

That means our body doesn’t stink naturally, it is bacteria’s fault. Even then, the smell of your body doesn’t always stink, that only happens if we eat processed and refined food, including meat.

For example, if you suffer from a kidney or liver disorder, your sweat may smell like bleach. On the other hand, diabetics often have fruity-like body odor.

Trimethylaminuria is a rare, genetic disorder and people who suffer from it have a fish-like smell.

There is also division onto women and men body odor. According to a study conducted in Geneva, Switzerland, women’s body odor has an onion-like smell while men’s odor has a cheesy smell.
