Little Mr A has always struggled with his pen/pencil grip.  Even though his handwriting is quite good, I knew it would greatly improve if he could just get his grip right.  School have been really good helping him and he has a triangular shaped pencil, however, he still struggles a little.

When Stabilo offered to send him a pen and pencil that would help his grip I was really intrigued to see if they would help.

Easy Original Pen

The Easy Original Pen is an ergonomically designed rollerball pen with a specially designed grip to help little hands hold the pen correctly and comfortably.  It has been praised by teachers and also comes in both left-handed and right-handed options with a variety of colours.

The pen also comes with three cartridges which are very easy to change over and should hopefully last quite some time.

This was the pen I was really wanting to try out with Little Mr A.  He usually writes everything in pencil as we just haven’t really found a pen he can hold properly to write with.  He took to the pen straight away.  We had to show him a few times how to hold it correctly, however, once he had got the hang of it there was no stopping him.  He seems to be very comfortable holding the pen and his handwriting was certainly improved.  He sat for a long time writing out his Christmas list and didn’t moan once about his hand being tired which he often does if I ask him to write on a birthday card!

The RRP for the pen is £6.99 and I really do think it is worth every penny!

Fine Liners

This pack of point 88 fine liners is available in an array of 25 bright colours and is perfect for highlighting and brightening up notes.  The pens have a long ‘cap-off’ time too which is always handy where children are involved!  Little Mr a is always forgetting to put lids back on pens!

I must admit I have pretty much claimed these pens as my own!  They are really easy to write with and great, bright colours.  I have been using them to write in birthday cards mainly and they look great!

The pack of pens (for the whole colour range) has an RRP of £24.48 which I do think is quite expensive, however, the pens are great quality and if you are looking to treat yourself I think they are a great buy!  We received a pack of 10 which is much cheaper and you still get a great selection of colours.

Ergonomic graphite pencil

This pencil has a triangular design and unique non-slip grip moulds to ensure that children can maintain a relaxed hand posture without getting tired.  The grips go all of the way up the pencil so will not be affected by sharpening.

This is very similar to the pencil Little Mr A has been given from school with one added bonus, the grips.  It certainly makes it much easier for Little Mr A to hold onto the pencil without him having to hold it too tight or his fingers slipping down which is often the case.  He has got on really well with the pencil and, as with the pen, it has improved his handwriting.

The RRP for the pencil is £2.99 for a pack of two which I think is a great price and well worth paying, especially if you have a child who struggles with pencil grip.
