Team Honk 2014 blogger Relay

The first ever Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games take place from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd March 2014. The public can join the fun and games by running, swimming or cycling their way to raising cash at over a thousand venues around the country, including the landmark events at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

As one of the biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active raise cash and change lives. The money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help transform the lives of some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people both at home in the UK and across the world.

To help raise money for Sport Relief this year over 200 bloggers are taking part in a giant baton relay from Land’s End to John O’Groats.  The baton left Land’s End on Sunday and reaches Hull on Sunday 2nd March via Humberside Airport.

So far the plans are that the baton will be taken across the Humber Bridge by the Hulls Angels Roller Dames with a mass 7 mile bike ride into Hull led by The Sunday Girls Road Club after which a welcoming event will (hopefully!) take place at the KC Stadium.  We are hoping to have lots of local sporting celebrities in attendance so if you are local it would be great if you could pop along and help us raise some money!

On Monday 3rd March Hull Rickshaws will be bringing the baton to me and another Hull Blogger, Stephanie of Miss Mamo’s World where we will be heading up a mass pram push up Hessle Road.  Again, any support with this would be great!  If you, or anyone you know, fancies joining in then please come along.  There may be some surprise guests helping us along our way too.

The baton will then be cycled part way up the Trans Pennine trail mainly by Joanne of Days Out Reviews before being passed to Heather of Bury Family Life who has kindly agreed to help us out as we are lacking on the blogging front over on this side of the country!  She will be running (crazy lady!) the baton to the Bradford Team.

We would really like the people of Hull and surrounding areas to get involved and help us out with this massive fundraising event.  If you are interested in getting involved please do join us over on the Team Honk Hull Facebook page where you can keep up to date with the latest developments.  We will also be running an auction over on the page nearer the time where you can bid for some great items including board games, food and signed shirts!

If you can’t get involved but would like to donate money to the cause you can donate over on our Sport Relief giving page.

We know how fantastic the people of Hull are so please, get behind us in anyway you can, and help us raise money for this fantastic charity!
